When my $100 coffee maker quit, I researched coffee makers and found this model from DeLonghi I hadn't heard of before. The design of this model sets a new standard for on-the-counter coffee makers. It is incredible to be able to put the filter, coffee, AND WATER in the maker without moving the machine. The caraffe doesn't drip when pouring into the swing out arm (or into the cup later) so there's no messy drips to wipe up at any time.
The digital clock isn't the quickest to set since you have to hold a button in as it changes in minutes only, but hopefully that won't need set often.
The "aroma" button really works! There actually is a difference in the brewing aroma with it on.
Most importantly, the end product was a great cup of coffee! I'm thrilled with the coffee maker and haven't found a single negative aspect yet, including the price. I HIGHLY recommend this model. Kudos Delonghi, you really outdid yourself here. Amazon's shipping was simple and fast. The whole purchasing experience was exceptional. A+++++

I previously had a Delonghi coffee maker that worked just fine, but decided I wanted one in a different color/design. Going based on my previous experience with Delonghi I decided to try this new model. So far my experience has been great. It is a nice simple contemporary design. It has a little cup warming tray on top that uses the steam from the coffee maker to warm the cup. It is true that the coffee doesn't come out quite as hot as other coffee makers, but it just means that you don't have to wait to start drinking it. It still comes out hot, just not scalding hot like some of the others. Best of all...FRONT ACCESS! No moving the thing to put in water and coffee.

First, the disclaimer: I purchased this product in early December 2008 from Bed Bath & Beyond. Some posts here reference a defect (that was to be eliminated in later production runs) that showed up about a month into use of this coffee maker. I have waited until now (two months later) to post a review, really hoping that my machine would continue to function well - and it has!! We replaced a 10-year old Krups coffee maker that took up too much space (and that had a dangerous on/off switch that was very easily depressed by accident, and no auto-shut off) with this great counter coffee maker. I have used this machine to brew a full pot of coffee -- sometimes more than one on weekends -- every day since early December, have had zero issues of the variety mentioned in earlier reviews, and have enjoyed every cup. I would highly recommend this coffee pot to folks who are looking for a drip coffee maker that makes great coffee and that has a nice design.
1) Front access = great
2) Coffee taste = great (I found the coffee temperature fine, to respond to other posts)
3) Brewing success = great (no issues with grounds floating in water, for example, and no leaking)
4) Auto timer = fine (I always have it brew coffee at the same time, so the lack of thought put into the auto timer set function pointed out by one reviewer is not an issue -- if you plan to reprogram a brand new time every day, it might annoy you)
5) Aroma buttom = great (coffee brews a little more slowly and comes out stronger)

I have purchased a lot of coffee pots through the years. Some for the style, color, and some for the brewing. Some have been good - some not so good. This coffee pot is awesome. Good looking - Easy to use - Great tasting coffee and an extra special feature that I love - No more pulling out the unit to fill with water. Just open the front of unit - fill with water - put coffee in the basket and boom your done. If your looking for a good coffee maker with a decent price - I say, BUY THIS!!!

We were looking for a good inexpensive coffee maker to replace one that broke on us. The DeLonghi was a great fit. Really convenient is the front loading feature. We have placed the coffee maker on our counter top but under a cupboard. The front loading makes it easier for us as we do not have to pull the machine out to prepare it.
