Great coffeemaker August 8, 2009 andy.e (virginia) 50 out of 52 found this review helpful
We bought this to replace our original Brewstation. It was still working, but it was hard to fill our travel mugs, so we upgraded to the newer model.
We love the convenience of push-button dispensing and the reservoir seems to keep the coffee hot without making it taste bitter or burnt.
There are several improvements over the original -
- smaller footprint
- brighter, easier to read display
- choice of keep-warm time
- choice of brew strength
- cleaning reminder
- more room for taller travel mugs
It makes great coffee and, when this one finally breaks we'll most likely replace it with another Brewstation model.
Edit - after using this for a number of months, I have to say that while everything that I said at first is true, it does tend to be messy. The water condenses on the lid and, even opening it hours after it turns off, runs all over the counter. The place where the coffee drips into the cup is close to the button that is pushed to release it and with some of our mugs the coffee tends to run behind the mug and down the coffee maker.
Fabulous! October 21, 2009 acidcookie (State College, PA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
We received this as a gift because our friends noticed that I was feeding my love for coffee on a cheap 4-cup coffee maker. I had wanted a new coffee maker but couldn't decide on what kind, but I had no idea something like this existed! It's perfect for keeping coffee warm without "cooking" it in the carafe after it has been brewed.
Contrary to some complaints about the "cumbersome" design, I think it's of great design. The top chamber first acts as a pitcher to pour water in the bottom chamber, then holds the coffee. Frankly, it's not more effort than filling a traditional carafe with water, pouring the water in the back chamber, and replacing the carafe.
Also, I really like that the whole basket for the coffee grounds simply lifts out with a handle for easy cleaning--there are plenty of coffee machines where only the paper coffee filter can be removed, making cleaning more troublesome. Mostly, I love that I can dispense coffee as I please and the rest remains inside and is kept warm, and there's no crusty coffee to scrub out of a glass carafe.
The only improvement to be made: faster reheating of the coffee when turning it back on later in the day to reheat that morning's coffee. Ah well, fresh-brewed tastes better anyway.
I am so happy I got it! WE LOVE IT! December 23, 2009 D. Clachar (Tuscaloosa, AL US) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this coffee maker to replace ours because I can't stand the burn coffee flavor it bothers me if the glass carafe is not perfectly clean and shiny, and I also like how it looks.
I was a little scared because I read some negative reviews about the product but OMG I love this coffee maker, it is perfect and does not make a mess at all, it is very easy to clean, use, and I think it is really nice looking :)
It also makes ice coffe if you put ice in the water reservoir.
I love that the coffee tastes fresh and you can't tell is been there for 4 hours.
I love to pour the coffee into my cup! No mess!
Super easy to use.
I really recomed it!!! You would love it! I like it so much that I got another one for my mother after I had mine for a month.
Great Buy!
Almost five stars December 11, 2009 R. Crook (Littleton, Colorado) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I was an owner of a previous model of this make of coffee machine. Nothing better in my mind. The earlier model was not so tall and for typically tall mugs for car use was hard to use. Not so now. Very well designed as before, but better. The only reason to give the new model five stars is that I cannot give it four and a half as the manner in which you can keep coffee perfect for four hours when you have set the timer, does not allow you to continue to keep the coffee perfect. Of course this is very minor as I work at home and have found that beyond the four hours the coffee was at such a perfect temperature it in fact takes an another hour before one has to make use of the microwave to boost the temperature back up. Use paper filters. Water filter use depends on your local water. The container where the paper filter and coffee sits has been improved; there are more holes so the coffee is made quicker averaging ten minutes for twelve cups without detracting from the quality of the final drink. The diameter of the coffee outlet has been improved BUT watch out for the initial rush of coffee if you are using a small teacup if you push on the release bar too hard.
Best coffee maker March 20, 2010 Anthony C. Sang (Texas) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Consumer Reports wasn't kidding to rate this coffee maker as one of the best. Brews great coffee with no fuss. The capability to put my travel coffee mug under the dispenser is like no other.
