This is a great tool for around the house or for camping.I use for making Herb teas and it is great .I would recommend to anyone needing a Percolator..
Works great, perfect size for two people. March 30, 2010 W. Hoyt (Southern California) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Sturdy, quality built percolator. Just like grandma and granpa used to have. The Coffee seems to have more taste (I use the Trader Joe's Fench Roast) then when made in automatic machine. Also this is the perfect size for two people with each getting a "top off." No complaints, would purchase again.
great coffee pot June 5, 2010 B. Foster 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a great coffee pot that makes some of the best coffee I've had. I use it at hgome as well as camping. No more of that coffee machine coffee for me. Perked is a treat.
Great Percolator April 22, 2010 Michael Crow 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is an excellent percolator for camping or home. We ordered the aluminum 20 cup and it was more than enough for my father who drinks a whole 12 cup pot in one day plus all of us had coffee when we went camping. I would recommend this for big coffee drinkers or a crowd of up to 10 because after all that is about 100 ounces of coffee it can hold. It probably won't hold but up to 20 level tablespoonfuls of coffee or so but we do not like ours really strong.
You might get several grounds in your cup toward the end but it would not be a big deal since they sink to the bottom. Though if you dont take out the basket to put the grounds in you will have more grounds in the coffee. I would recommend this for a camping coffeemaker because it gets just a few grounds in the bottom. Any percolator will do that some. Though filters should not be used. It will affect the strength and you will have paper to clean out with the grounds.
The design unfortunately will burn your fingers if you have it wide open on a camping stove. We found that out the hard way. They should have put rubber over the handles on this. We put paper towels folded up and put them on there because it was too hot to handle. It does percolate in under an hour. Usually for us it was 45 minutes. This is a great product overall and would recommend this product. Just be careful of the handles being hot if you have it wide open on a propane camping stove.
not all stainless steel?? July 27, 2010 East Coast Reader 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This makes good coffee, and functions well as a percolator - but I spent a lot more on it compared to other brands because it said stainless steel. I don't believe the basket inside is stainless steel - so what's the point? The button on top is plastic also. It works, but if you're after very high quality materials this might not be the one for you. The handle is clad in wood which adds a nice rustic touch and makes it easier to handle off the stove which is one good feature.
